Anderson #8 says she "kept house" (maid, nurse, baby sitter, cook, etc.) at various times for John and Mary (?) Hinkley, neighbor in Hersey. They were benefactors as well as employer of Bertha and later sons Errett and Ned as teenagers (on farm) during WW1 (Dad says about 1914 to 1920, then part time after Bertha moved to Detroit area. John Hinkley used to refer to her husband George as a "hard headed Englishman" She was in poor health (asthma and ...) for many years and lived in a county facility (Oakland County MI) - from what #8 said ~2/00, in thinks it started during WI. Although welfare requested family help pay, (Dad had 5 kids and little money even with two jobs). Later she moved in with son Edmund early 1950s, then to nursing home. Died of Cerebral Accident (and diabetic) age 75. 1900 census of Watertown NY shows her at parents' house, age 21, dressmaker, worked for uncle (Rosskam # 427) in Chicago , where she met husband George.
