Benjamin Bucklin was born on 2 July 1640 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.65,417 He was christened on 2 July 1640 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.418 He was baptized on 7 July 1640 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.6,7 Benjamin was appointed Trooper in Rehobeth, Massachusetts in 1659419 He moved to in 1675420 He died on 26 March 1676 at the age of 35 in Nine Men's Misery fight.421,422 Benjamin served in the military Nine Men's Misery fight on 26 March 1676.423 He was buried in 1676 in Nine Men's Misery fight site, Cumberland, Rhode Island.424 He contributed for King Phillip's War in 1676 .425 There is a record of him, in Rehobeth, Massachusetts on 7 February 1688/9.426 Benjamin has reference number Buck88. , He obtained land, in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts.158 Benjamine and his brother John, with other persons, formed a partnership to dig a mine for silver in Rhode Island. John signed with an "X", but Benjamine signed his name as "Bucklen".

In 1675, William Bucklin contributed 2£ 9s to assist in the war against the Indian King Phillip. His sons Benjamin and Joseph contributed 4£ 3s and 6 £ respectively. Pawtucket was in the center of the war zone, with many, if not most, of the houses burned, and many killed, including Benjamin Bucklin. Across the river, the entire small Jenks settlement was burned to the ground in 1675 during the King Philip War.

Benjamin was slain in what is memorialized as "Nine Mens' Misery". The death of these nine men in the war against King Phillip is an interesting story in itself. Benjamin's remains were identified by two pecularities of his body:
a. larger height than most men (well over six feet hight); and
b. a double row of teeth, so he had twice as many teeth than normal. [source: conference with Victor Franko, author of "Nine Men's Misery"]

Benjamin Bucklin Rev.433 was born on 17 April 1754 in Foster, Providence County, Rhode Island.427 He lived in Guilford, Vermont in 1777.280,434,435 About 1778 he was a Church minister in Guilford, Vermont. He was also known as Benjamin Bucklen. Benjamin was also known as Benjamin Buckland. He has reference number Buck1875. There are some very strong family traditions which have been passed down through the Buckland family to the present generation. The strongest is that of the importance of a college education. Isaac Buckland and his son, RJW Buckland, were broad minded (for their day) and saw the importance of a “scientific education”. RJWB even sent his daughter, Genevieve, to Vassar in the 1870s ! She went on to marry Frank L. Crawford (whose father always regretted not attending college) who founded the girls college preparatory school, Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. in 1894. Genevieve made certain that her daughters were well read and they were allowed to date boys and have freedoms that were unheard of in those days. My grandmother(Dorothy) used to tell of being allowed to go out for moonlight canoe rides alone with a boy when she was in her teens (before 1907)Another family tradition was encouraging girls to be athletic. My grandmother was captain of her basketball team in prep school and college, played field hockey and competed in tennis almost to the Olympic level. All the family members were strong swimmers, canoe paddlers, and climbing the White Mountains in New Hampshire as young children. The family traveled all over Europe in the early 1900’s and spent several winters living in Germany to study German and music. Genevieve passed on her love of drawing and antiques to Lesley. Lesley continued to travel to Europe every other winter to stay in Florence, Italy with friends who were also artists. The Bucklands were known to be tall and large boned people.
